Who uses VantageScore® Credit Scores? New Report Shows Major Surge in Lender Adoption

August 2, 2022

Whether you’re a consumer seeking to understand your credit health, a lender contemplating migration to a new credit score model, or a capital markets expert examining the details of a securitization, understanding the extent to which VantageScore credit scores are used is important.

VantageScore recently partnered with global management consultant Oliver Wyman to gain insights. The firm measured how many VantageScore credit scores were used in a 12-month period between 2021 and 2022, and by which types of consumer lenders and other entities that count on credit scores to do business.

The Oliver Wyman study confirms that VantageScore credit scores continue to be used across the entire lifecycle of consumer lending and across every relevant category. Indeed, usage is growing on a double-digit percentage basis. In the 12-month period between March 1, 2021 and February 28, 2022, more than 3,000 companies used 14.5 billion VantageScore credit scores. This is an approximately 18% increase in the number of scores used as compared to the 2019 study.
