Fitch Ratings is the first rating agency with the capability to evaluate and assign ratings to mortgage loans based on VantageScore, the only generic credit scoring model jointly developed by the three national credit reporting companies (CRCs – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). With VantageScore, the same algorithm is in place at all three CRCs giving a consistent interpretation of consumer credit files across all three major credit reporting companies.

One of the chief benefits of VantageScore the ability to deliver a more consistent score across all three consumer reporting companies (CRCs — Equifax, Experian, TransUnion). This is accomplished by employing several innovative techniques:
- During model development, the team's earliest task was to address
disparities in the CRCs' individual definitions of credit characteristics,
defined as consumers' payment and credit management behavioral
data supplied by the lenders to the CRCs.

Contact VantageScore:
VantageScore is sold and marketed only through individual licensing arrangements with the three major credit reporting companies (CRCs) - Equifax,
Experian and TransUnion. Lenders and other commercial entities interested
in learning more about VantageScore may contact one of the CRCs.
